The Cerevellum, which is a medical term for the brain, is a prototype GPS for bikes.
Its main feature is the rear view camera it integrates so you’ll always know what’s happening on the road behind you – which is really valuable for people on their bikes. It seems like an ideal gadget for the city cyclist who can not only see what happens behind them but also record it in 30 second loops.
The Cerevellum is now only a prototype; it is scheduled to hit the market in 2011. It will have a 3.5″ screen, full color, heart rate monitor with other cyclometer functions and a battery life of four hours.
Cerevellum, a new company is formulating cutting edge bi-cycle computer holding a unique feature, ‘Hindsight’. The appliance, Cerevellum named after the company acts as an information center for biking. It provides similar features as that of a gps tracking device for a car, all in the same box and easily attachable to the bike.
A mini computer forms the base unit of the Cerevellum which attaches to the handlebars, further can attach about 4 different models using the 4 USB connection of the base unit.
The coolest module is Hindsight. It gives the user the rear view mirror of the car to your bike. This features allows cyclists to ride safely in busy streets. Hindsight adds a mini camera that can be placed either on your handlebar or at the bike’s back. The camera is used to feed live video about what is happening behind the cyclist ,to the display screen of the base unit.
The cycle computer, another module facilitates a cluster of data generally displayed on the car’s dashboard. The base unit calculates average and maximum speed of the bike. Like car’s odometer, the base unit tracks the total distance to let users keep track of how far they went on a certain trip.
The power meter module measure the power which means how hard you need to peddle for a particular workout.
The Heart rate module shows the users’ current heart rate so that you can speed up or slow down when you are working a bit hard.
In the field of gps navigation units, which up to this point have been geared to motorists and even those who ride motorcycles, this unit will be perfect for the serious bicyclist who rides on city streets or rides for enjoyment.Like any other car mounted GPS device, the Cerevellum features information regarding your current location and map. The Cerevellum has been constructed brilliantly with features enjoyed by the motorist, and is scheduled to hit the market in 2011.
